It happens to the best of us. Every busy mom, at some point or another, is going to have a moment here or there where she just feels blah. Today let’s talk about how we can battle back against the sadness that sometimes just creeps in and keeps us from really living the life we desire and know we deserve. Whether it’s a bad day, a bad week, or a bad month, we’ve all been there. We’ve all had the blues and felt the blahs.
Maybe you’ve battled depression at one point in your life, or maybe it’s situational: something in your life has got you down. Maybe one of your children is sick or struggling with something. Maybe you’ve got a parent whose health is failing. Maybe you’ve been wanting to switch out of a job you hate, and just feel stuck. Maybe you’re wondering what your purpose is. Maybe you just feel isolated as a stay-at-home mom.
There is no stigma in admitting: “I’m in a funk.” In fact, admitting it is the first step to shaking it off! When you name it, you can change it!
Just to be clear, here: what we’re talking about here today is the blues. The blahs. Feeling like you’re in a funk, knowing you want to feel better, and knowing that it’s not true, clinical depression. As a professional counselor, I want to say this: there is no stigma it getting help for true, clinical depression. Send me a message and I’ll help you find a counselor near you- I want you to get the help you need.
But for those of us who just have our moments, our little glimpses of sadness because things aren’t going quite as swimmingly as we might like… that’s what today is about.
I’ve created a video, and remember: my videos are meant to be listened to! I want you to start this when you get in the car to go start carpool, or while you’re cleaning. It’s not meant to be just one more thing you have to do, it’s meant to help you multitask: get your stuff done, while hopefully shaking off those blahs, and getting back on track!
And so that you can have a summary at your fingertips, I created a checklist PDF for you, click the image below to get yours! That way, the next time you’re in a funk, you can just reference your handy-dandy checklist and shake off those blahs!
(Is anyone else hearing Taylor Swift in the back of your head? “Shake It Off, Shake It Off, I-I..” Yeah, you’re welcome for that ear worm, friends! 😉
Here is your video, I hope you find it helpful! After you watch and download your PDF, send me a message. Let me know what your favorite trick is for shaking off the blahs. What would you add? Maybe you love to bake? Maybe taking the dog for a walk? A movie marathon? Share below, or share this post on Facebook and lift up your friends as well!
